This is the first album recording of the 95-year-old afrocolombian musician and composer Magín Díaz García. Prior to this album, Magín Díaz had falle into anonymity, despite having composed some of Colombia’s most famous folk songs.

The album was awarded:
- 1 Grammy Award
- 1 Latin Grammy
- 1 Independent Music Award

Joining Magín on his album were 30 other musicians from the Americas, including Carlos Vives, Totó la Momposina, Bomba Estéreo and Chango Spasiuk. A graphic designer was assigned to re-interpret each song, and the album booklet contains 25 illustrations or paintings, by artists such as Liniers, etc.

The project transformed the representation and reception of the afrodiasporic music genre bullerengue in Colombia and Latin America. Fundamentally, the album also changed Magín’s life, giving him the recognition he long deserved and contributing to his winning of the Lifetime Achievement award in his native Colombia.
